The son of two band directors, Nolan started his relationship with music at a young age. He cut his teeth in music production and live sound through working with local groups from Northeast Ohio, such as Black Roads. He is a graduate of the Commercial Music Production program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. While attending, he had the opportunity to study with greats such as Kim Pensyl, Craig Bailey, and Ric Hordinski. He works as an engineer and assistant under GRAMMY-winner Ken Lewis, where he won his first Participating GRAMMY award for “Hell’s Kitchen” in 2025. He also works on Ken’s monthly live stream “Mixing Night Audio” which broadcasts live on YouTube the first Wednesday of every month.

Nolan founded Monigold Studios in 2017 in his parents’ basement, and has since grown it to the entity you see today. Along with his skills as an engineer and producer, Nolan plays trombone and bass guitar professionally. He has worked extensively with documentary filmmaker/podcast host David Donnelly on a variety of audio and visual projects. From specializing in Dolby ATMOS Recording and Mixing to his credit list as an engineer and assistant, Nolan has set himself apart from the rest as a mover in the music industry.
